God is refining me.

I love being here! I especially love when God reveals Himself through other people. So many things are different now that I live in England – housing, food, transportation, culture, religion, and mainly relationships. God has brought so many new friends into my life and has taken old friends/relationships out of my life. As I was reflecting on that, one of the ladies at the church I’ve been going to asked me how I was settling in and I casually told her that God was weeding out some relationships. Her words really hit me – she said well God is refining you!! Wow, in that 1 minute conversation God spoke through her w/ what I needed to hear at that exact moment.

I immediately dove into God’s word looking up the word refine. I found it in Isaiah 48.

vs 3 stood out right away – The former things I declared of oldthey went out from my mouth, and I announced them; then suddenly I did them, and they came to pass. The past is over!!!

Then I continue to read…

vs 6-7 You have heard; now see all this; and will you not declare it? From this time forth I announce to you new things, hidden things that you have not known. They are created now, not long agobefore today you have never heard of them, lest you should say, ‘Behold, I knew them. God has given me new things (relationships, work, lifestyle, location, perspective, etc).

The best part…

vs 10 Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried[a] you in the furnace of affliction. He is my Refiner’s Fire! A refiner’s fire refines, purifies, melts away the imperfections. And with fire comes discomfort. It’s not an easy process but much needed.  1 Peter 5:10 says And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

The meaning of Refine – remove impurities or unwanted elements. To make minor changes so as to improve or clarify.  Love this! God needed to put me in the furnace of affliction to remove all the impurities. And that’s exactly what He is doing daily. Beauty out of ashes.

Thankful that God is taking time to refine me and mold me into His image!!

In 2 weeks the first mission trip team comes in from Dallas. Excited to work alongside these teams as they show the love of Christ to the communities in this area!
