a door of hope

Wow, this is surreal that I’m even typing this right now and to be completely transparent, this is so out of my comfort zone. I have always been the behind the scenes kind of girl so writing has never been my gift. But as I’m sitting here thinking and praying about what to say on this blog, I’m reminded of the verse that my Dad has claimed for me since I was younger.

Hosea 2:14-15

14 “Therefore, behold, I will allure her,
and bring her into the wilderness,
    and speak tenderly to her.
15 And there I will give her her vineyards
and make the Valley of Achor[a] a door of hope.
And there she shall answer as in the days of her youth,
as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt.

God has laid an amazing opportunity on my heart recently! I came to a place where I felt like I needed to refocus my singleness and say “Here am I! Send me” Isaiah 6:8. God has opened a door for me to spread hope to the people of the UK so I will be moving there to work with the Tees Valley Youth for Christ for a year starting in January. Click Here to learn more about them.

This process started about a month ago when God kept laying uk-usa ministries and Mike Taylor on my heart. With the persistent nudging of the Holy Spirit, I reached out to him. The day I was contacting Mike, he posted Luke 10:2 “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” I knew God was already moving when Mike contacted me back immediately and stated he would be in Lynchburg for Global Emphasis week. Since my son goes to school there, I was able to go up for the night to meet with Mike to discuss opportunities for this ministry. That same week I found out from my current job at Crisis Pregnancy Center that my temporary position was unexpectedly being dissolved. I was a little confused by the timing of this, but I had been praying for God to work details out and that’s exactly what He did. When I met with Mike the first thing he said was “You’re an answer to prayer”. I love that God was already confirming His calling!

Why the UK?

Well it all started 5 years ago when I was working for Student Ministry at Liberty Baptist sending students on mission to the UK. We were connected with a group called uk-usa ministries. This was the most talked about mission trip…all the students wanted to go on this trip. They were so passionate and excited to spread the gospel to the people of the UK that it made me so excited to plan the trips and send them off. Including my own son, who was fortunate to spend a week over there. Though I never got to go on one of the mission trips, I knew something was different about this ministry and I wanted to get in on what God was doing over there!

What will I be doing?

I’m so excited to be able to use my administrative and photography skills to serve this ministry. I will be working closely with the Tees Valley Youth for Christ team. Doing whatever is needed. They have 23 mission trip teams coming over to partner with them in 2018. I will be helping the team organize the trips and be a liaison to the church admins. I will also be able to assist the media team in taking pictures of the mission trip teams.

I will be flying over there on December 29 to stay until the following December.

I will be living with a host home in Teesside. There will be opportunities to travel to their other locations in York and Manchester.

How much?

This staff position will need to be fully supported by you. I will not receive a salary from the ministry so I’m prayerfully raising $15,000 – $20,000 for the year. All funds need to be in by December 17, unless it’s monthly support. To support me directly, click on this link Donate uk-usaministries.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and hear about what God is doing in my life. He has given me a Door of Hope and I pray you will come alongside of me to support me in this journey.
